FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Public (GKV) or private (PKV) health insurance — which is right for me?+

It depends on your income, age, family situation and how long you plan to stay in Germany. We project the long-term cost of both and explain the switching rules before you decide.

Do I need to file a German tax return as an expat?+

In most cases yes — especially if you have income or assets abroad, stock options or RSUs. We coordinate with international tax advisors and use applicable double taxation treaties.

What happens to my German pension contributions if I leave Germany?+

Depending on your nationality and time in the system, you can claim a refund, leave the contributions to vest, or transfer credits via bilateral agreements. We walk you through your options.

Can I invest in ETFs in Germany if I am not German or EU?+

Yes, but broker and product availability depend on your passport and tax residency. We help non-EU and US persons find compliant brokers and tax-efficient ETF portfolios.
